Digital Projection Mapping video “Celebrating 50 Years of Caring at UC San Diego Health” wins 5 Communicator Awards

More and more when an ambitious new project is unveiled; whether it be a product, a service, or in this case, a hospital; clients want the accompanying video content to be equally ambitious. Take the case of UC San Diego Health‘s new Jacobs Medical Center, a 245-bed, $1 billion dollar facility located in La Jolla, CA.

Our Nitrous Effect partner event agency Evntiv was tasked with creating the grand opening events and Vidzu Media was asked to imagine a large digital projection mapping video that would transform the one-of-a-kind, curved lobby wall into a video installation surface that would take viewers through the 50 year history of the UC San Diego Health System.

The resulting video experience, “Celebrating 50 Years of Caring,” took visitors of the new Medical Center on a journey above San Diego and La Jolla, showcasing landmarks of the health system, as well as significant milestones in their history.
Following the success of that exhibition at the grand opening, the video has recently gone on to win 5 awards at this year’s Communicator Awards; receiving Awards of Excellence for Art Direction and Animation, and Awards of Distinction for Visual Effects, Video in Government Relations, and Video in Public Relations.
We’re proud to have been a part of this historic hospital unveiling and to have been nationally recognized for our part in the grand opening.
